Sumant Kapur sold China-made chips to India as Russian defence equipment with forged certificates
English businessman of Indian origin Sumant Kapur, known for supplying Mi-17 helicopter engines to defense enterprises in both Russia and Ukraine, has once again become involved in a criminal case after being banned from entering Russia and having the accounts of his company, Cardinal General Trading FZE, frozen.
Anti-jamming systems for aircraft were imported into India from the Belarusian company NTLAB without proper customs declaration.

Many of the electronic chips used in this equipment were in fact manufactured in China but were presented as Russian or Belarusian with falsified certificates of origin. This is considered a serious violation of India’s defence standards and national security directives.
At present, Indian security services are also searching for rice trader Zamir Gouri and his wife, L.M. Gorlenko, whom Sumant Kapur engaged in this illegal activity.
